Assistant Programmer/Analyst II (3 months)
SUMMARY
The purpose of these positions is to develop and apply solutions to complex and/or highly technical programs through the design and programming of automated computer application systems, under the general supervision of the Manager, Applications Development and Analysis.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
* PROGRESS GUI 8.3b or higher and/or PROGRESS Character 8.3b or higher
* Oracle 10G or higher and/or Oracle JDeveloper Tools
* Oracle SOA Suite and/or Oracle SQL/PLSQL
* Java
* Experience working with general business applications (Payroll, HR, Finance, Inventory, Purchasing, etc.)
* Must be able to work independently, performing most programming assignments without close supervision.
* Must be able to communicate effectively with management and end-users.
* Must be customer-service oriented.
* Must be able to manage multiple concurrent assignments.
* Must be able to work in a "time sensitive/critical" environment.
* Must be able to complete assignments in a timely manner.
QUALIFICATIONS
Classes/Courses/Certificates in Information Technology/Computer Science (a plus)
Programmer/Analyst III
* Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology/Computer Science or a related field with at least five years experience in IT and programming (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
Assistant Programmer/Analyst II
* Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology/Computer Science or a related field with at least three years experience in IT and programming (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
Essential Functions
Programmer/Analyst III
* Under general supervision, codes, tests, and debugs moderately complex programs.
* Generally, develops written specifications for assignments.
* Translates high-level business requirements into detailed functional specifications.
* Provides complex database application / integration development and support.
* Develops extract, transfer, and load processes to interface various data needs.
* Works with vendors for both operational support and data delivery.
* Troubleshoots in a production environment.
* Provides regular project status reports to the Manager, Applications Development and Analysis.
* Provides daily customer support for system processes / functionality / problem resolution.
* Writes and maintains documentation to describe program development, logic, coding, testing, changes, and corrections.
* Develops a job book for the position that will describe duties of the position in detail so that work could continue in the incumbent's absence.
* Cross-trains with the Manager, Applications Development and Analysis for backup and supervisory assignments.
* Performs other functions and duties as needed and/or as assigned.
Assistant Programmer/Analyst II
* Generally works from written specifications prepared by the Manager, Applications Development and Analysis, but as part of this individual's training, may be required to develop program specifications for review by the Manager, Applications Development and Analysis.
* Performs most programming assignments without close supervision.
* Assists with providing moderately complex database application/integration development and support.
* Assists with developing extract, transfer, and load processes to interface our various data needs.
* Assists with performing routine database administration.
* Provides regular project status reports to the Manager, Applications Development and Analysis.
* Under general direction by the Manager, Applications Development and Analysis, provides daily customer support for system processes / functionality / problem resolution.
